FoRCES Protocol as a Solution for Interaction of Control and Forwarding Planes in Distributed Routers

As internet traffic grows in volumes and new services, like VoIP, Deep Packet Inspection or Intrusion Detection&Prevention emerge IP devices (e.g. routers, firewalls) should meet a number of demands in order to be able to effectively cover for the coming market requirements. One of the demands is to provide for a scalable architecture where processing capacity can be cost-effectively increased. Another demand is to provide for open and programmable platforms where new services can easily be introduced.
