GasthuisZusters Antwerpen wanted to replace the self-developed mainframe application for patient administration with new applications that the hospital can use in a more flexible and user-friendly client/server environment and achieve nearly 100% availability for the patient information system, to ensure that doctors and caretakers can access vitally important patient data at any given moment. The challenge was to create a scalable environment to accommodate the growth in users and data following the merger between the Sint-Augustinus and the Sint-Vincentius/Sint-Jozef hospitals. GasthuisZusters Antwerpen achieved a successful transfer of all mainframe data to new patient administration applications in a more user-friendly client/server environment without any downtime ensuring uninterrupted access to patient data.
