Gen2-Based Hybrid Tag Anti-Collision Q Algorithm Using Chebyshev's Inequality for Passive RFID Systems
Source: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
EPCglobal Gen2 for passive RFID system uses probabilistic slotted ALOHA with Q algorithm, which is a kind of Dynamic Framed Slotted ALOHA (DFSA), as the tag anti-collision algorithm. In this paper, the authors analyze the performance of Q algorithm used in Gen2 and compare the tag estimation methods for DFSA. They also propose a new hybrid anti-collision Q algorithm, which combines the conventional Q algorithm with Chebyshev's inequality. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional Q algorithm. That is, the proposed algorithm reduces the total number of slots and increases the throughput and system efficiency compared with the conventional Q algorithm used in Gen2.
