Global Positioning System (GPS) 2008

A National Security Presidential Directive (NSPD) for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) was signed by the President in December 2004. The policy provided guidance on the procurement, management, and protection of the GPS segments, and created a The National Executive Committee for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing (EXCOM) to advise and coordinate among federal agencies on policies, issues, and initiatives pertaining to GPS and related space-based PNT systems.
