Government of Bermuda Web Site Brings Students Home
The Government of Bermuda launched the www.careers.gov.bm website to link Bermudian students and graduates to local employers. This is an interactive site that was initiated through Commission for Unity and Racial Equality (CURE). The website has been made using LANSA Web Access Modules (WAMs) and Ajax technology. The LANSA Integrator is a backend solution that facilitates exchange of documents. The website integrates using web services along with the Department of Immigration. CURE built the website using LANSA Professional Services and implemented it with the aid of Bermuda Information Technology Services (BITS). Bermuda has more than 9,000 expatriate work permit holders who are part of the upper level management. Using this interface, students can log on and create an account. They can also post cover letters, upload their resume, find more sources of employment, and look for jobs. Once a student signs off, the system continues to match them to potential opportunities. Students are sent results via email of new jobs postings or and career information is posted. With this interface, employers can also manage online profiles. They can post and update job information, employment applications and access information of new registrants.
