GSM to LTE Migration

GSM has been a tremendously successful technology and has an unsurpassed installed base of infrastructure and subscribers. Leveraging GSM subscriber base, spectrum, coverage, and network infrastructure already in place will ensure that GSM operations continue to be profitable. GSM will remain for a considerable time serving many customers, supporting roamers, and providing coverage while eventually migrating to LTE. Given the availability of low cost GSM handsets with longer battery lifetimes in the mass market, GSM will remain an attractive option for emerging and developing markets where the consumer needs are to be economically addressed.
