Gulf Telcos: Managing Expansion Better

Profitable businesses at home have led Gulf telcos to expand nearby regions. But success abroad will require a whole new set of skills. In the new markets, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) telcos must also serve low-income users profitably. While companies from East Asia, India, and Latin America may have more experience with low-income users, executives at Gulf telcos are hardly starting from scratch. GCC operators, for example, have served low-income foreign laborers working in the GCC states, and that experience could provide insights into this customer segment's usage patterns and needs.
