Gullivers Travel Associates Finds Swift Solution to Web Search With IBM and DataMirror

Gullivers Travel Associates (GTA) uses industry-leading online technology to supply tour operators and travel agents with a 'One-stop-shop' of content comprising over 21,000 directly contracted hotels and apartments and more than 3 million ground travel items. GTA needed to find the best way to store and manage business-critical hotel rooms database, and deliver very fast Web search query response times for growing overseas business. IBM divided the workload between several platforms, including one IBM System i5 570 with 16 IBM POWER5 microprocessors running IBM DB2 Universal Database software, four IBM System x 460 servers running Linux and Oracle databases, and nine IBM BladeCenter servers running Apache Tomcat software; implemented Transformation Server from IBM Business Partner DataMirror to manage data replication.
