The University of Florida (UF), whose main campus is located in Gainesville, Fla., is the largest and oldest university in the state. When the state of Florida decided it would no longer support any state university IT systems, the University of Florida (UF) needed to bring many of its computing activities in house. In order to achieve this, UF had to rethink its entire IT infrastructure. The university chose to implement Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions and Financial Management applications on an IBM BladeCenter running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and Oracle 10g Real Application Clusters (RAC) database delivering UF the capacity it needed, while also offering significant operational savings.
