High Performance Computing Speeds Data Analysis and Improves Weather Forecasting
Source: Oracle
The Instituto Nacional De Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) wanted to increase high-performance computing resources to keep pace with technological advances and provide the capabilities necessary to quickly complete increasingly complex climatic analyses. The challenge was to maintain the center's position as one of the major climate research centers in the world. This climate research center leveraged a 4.4-teraflop (sustained LINPACK) cluster of 275 Sun servers with 1,100 processors for weather forecasting and climate analysis.
