Volvo IT wanted a very high level of availability throughout the system, almost 100 percent. This doesn't apply to just the actual storage equipment, but also, for example, to the rest of the infrastructure with switches and other network equipment. To master these challenges Volvo IT chose Hitachi Data System. Volvo IT deployed Hitachi Freedom 7700 and Lightning 9900 SAN, UNIX, OS 390, Novell Netware and NT.
