As the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront steadily expanded, so did its networking requirements as the company provided additional IT services to a mounting number of areas within its confines. However, an unsystematic approach to developing the networking infrastructure had led to disparate technologies and had created a multi-vendor environment across the estate. It had no centralised network management or monitoring capabilities and was incapable of supporting the company's plans to double the Waterfront's size in readiness for football's 2010 FIFA World Cup. The V&A Waterfront Company asked several major networking companies for proposals and spoke to its infrastructure partners about their experiences of dealing with each vendor. They deployed ProCurve Adaptive Network solution which comprises highly reliable, award-winning ProCurve 5400zl series switches, ProCurve 3500yl series intelligent switches and ProCurve Wireless Access Points 420.
