HPFQ-M: Hierarchical Packet Fair Queuing Algorithm With Maximum Rate Control

With more and more network applications coming up, the types of traffics appear to be diversified and the amount of traffics increases remarkably. The choice of the packet service discipline at queuing points in networks becomes more and more important in designing networks. How to meet QoS requirements in terms of throughput, delay, jitter and so on in integrated networks better in the more complicated network environment? Some technical problems should be considered in designing scheduling algorithms. The first consideration is to apply a proper flow control mechanism. Previously proposed schemes have their own drawbacks. The regular-based ones need two sets of queue management which require extra buffer and lead to high overhead.
