Implementing Map-Reduce to Enhance the Computational Abilities of Cloud Computing Platform

The immense computational and storage power that a cloud infrastructure provides, can be aptly used to calculate large sets of data. Map-Reduce is one technique which can help to build such applications that are capable of executing such tasks. Map-Reduce programs are designed to compute large volumes of data in a parallel fashion. This requires dividing the workload across a large number of machines. The computation takes a set of input key/value pairs and produces a set of output key/value pairs. This paper presents a cloud based application that allows users to upload, large amount of data for computations such as indexing, word counts, etc.
