The IT industry has recognized the need to use formal processes and methodologies to ensure quality in software development. This has led many organizations to plan and establish Project Management Offices (PMOs), Quality Cells and other such departments to facilitate the establishment and implementation of necessary processes and methodologies. There are countless benefits that can be gained by implementing a PMO or Quality Cell. However, the fruits of these efforts may not be as good as expected.
