A recent study by Accenture1, conducted on behalf of the European Retail Round Table (ERRT), revealed the great potential of cross-border sales in Europe. The report surveyed 146 European retailers from 6 sectors and 7 countries. A quarter of the respondents were confident their online sales revenues could grow by a further 25% through increased cross border sales. It seems that the complexities of return policies, extra logistics effort and the growing body of trade regulations do not deter retailers from venturing into foreign markets. In other words, the benefits of this channel to UK retailers outweigh potential logistic and legal hurdles that come with selling into new territories. One of the easiest routes to market is by using trusted online marketplaces like Amazon and eBay.
