Information Security Management Made Simple
Source: Sayer Vincent
Charities have a legal duty to look after their information properly, and would face significant damage to their reputation if any data about their supporters or beneficiaries were to be lost or stolen. In addition, like any organisation, charities depend on their information systems to run their businesses properly and efficiently. Dependence on information systems has grown in all areas of life, and to a great extent this has meant increasing dependence on computerised information systems. Recent trends of working, such as the greater availability and use of laptop computers and other mobile devices, bring with them new risks not faced previously, such as being able to lose or have stolen prodigious quantities of data, some of which may be confidential or sensitive.
