IT Improvement: A Survey and Analysis of Process Improvement Methodologies and Their Application in It
Source: Bowie State University
Many companies use some form of process improvement methodology. These methodologies have made improvements to manufacturing, assembling, and other job shop type environments (Cox & Goldratt, 1992). However, these methodologies have been forced down the throat of Information Technology (IT) companies and departments. Thereby, these initiatives are forcing managers to make it work for the numbers instead of making it work for them (Bahasin & Burcher, 2006). The purpose of this research is to compare and contrast the different process improvement methodologies and attempt to apply them to IT by translating manufacturing terms in to IT terms.
