Kodak EasyShare Gallery expected to significantly downsize its storage capital operating expenses, achieve exceptional reliability and increase scale capacity for the gallery's exponentially flourishing user base. An expandable simplified network storage design was required by Kodak EasyShare Gallery. It needed to be easily expandable to accommodate billions of images. Further, it was required to quickly and efficiently manage daily additions of several terabytes following holidays and peak traffic periods. According to this study, Kodak EasyShare Gallery tested Isilon IQ along with several traditional SAN, NAS and other storage systems to find a solution. Finally, Isilon IQ was selected because of its unique features. It provided significant monetary and operational cost savings. Isilon IQ allowed linear scalability and support for HTTP writes and reads. The deployment time became lightning fast. Capacity could now be added in less than 60 seconds. Further cluster planning and set up came down to 1or 2 days from the previous 4 to 6 weeks. In addition, it facilitated seamless file and directory replication with the use of Isilon's SyncIQ replication instead of WAN or LAN. The best part is that these changes did not compromise with user friendliness. Kodak EasyShare Gallery now offers unmatched ease of use along with great technical features.
