Using the notion of culturally endorsed implicit leadership theory, the authors outline a theoretical framework to describe the relationship between national culture, organizational culture, and leadership. Based on this framework, the authors propose a series of hypotheses relating specific cultural dimensions and leadership attributes. The authors use the GLOBE Database to test the hypotheses. Specifically, the authors examined seven of the primary leadership attributes that were identified by the GLOBE project as highly culturally contingent. The authors hypothesized cultural dimensions that are associated with these seven leadership attributes and these findings verified most hypotheses.
