The number one goal of organizations today has become that of building a high performance workforce, while finding exceptional leaders to effectively guide that workforce. What seem to be driving this trend are an obvious business need, as well as the general failure of downsizing and reorganization in keeping profits healthy. Organizations are realizing that global competition will continue to dictate what can be charged for goods and services and are making cost reductions in operations to compensate, but they are also taking shortcuts in leadership development and the time it takes to find the "Right person", resulting in a vicious cycle of ill-prepared, illequipped, and often ineffective leaders, not to mention lesser performing teams who report to them.
