Library Reduces IT Support Costs, Increases Productivity and Communication
Source: Microsoft
The Harlan Community Library, which provides information services to the residents of the City of Harlan and Shelby County in Iowa, was not using its network effectively. With no desktop lockdown capability, staff spent hours removing unwanted downloads from public-access machines. System administration and upgrades had to be done onsite, which increased support costs. And with only one e-mail account, one employee had to print and distribute e-mail to other staff. Upgrading from Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server to Windows Small Business Server 2003 gave the library an affordable solution that includes all of the tools for remote administration, remote user access, lockdown capability, better reporting, and e-mail collaboration - plus Microsoft Windows Server System technology.
