With ad hoc networks having much more advantages over other types of networks in a mobile world, this made it an attractive field for many protocols. In this paper, the authors propose an implementation of the Q-Routing protocol working over a mobile ad hoc network to enhance the performance of the packets sent and received. However, to implement a protocol in such an environment, many factors need to be taken into consideration, such as: exploration and learning over time to adapt to network changes. They used these factors in the protocol agents to update the routing tables found on each node accordingly.
