MB86R01 NOR/NAND Flash Type Limitations
Source: Fujitsu
This paper explains the technical reasons for the inability of the MB86R01 'Jade' to operate with external NAND flash devices. Flash memory devices, as non-volatile memory that is used for storing data and programs in an external location, come in two flavours like NOR flash devices and NAND flash devices. Whereas both device types fulfill the same objective, namely the ability to save data that can be erased and rewritten, there is a decisive technical difference that is the reason why the GDC can only operate effectively with NOR flash.
