Mobility Improvement in IEEE 802.16
WiMAX, IEEE standard 802.16 has attracted attention of users and industry, for its promise of delivering broadband wireless connection. WiMAX was initially developed as a fixed wireless broadband solution, to be used as a last mile connection, substituting the need for laying DSL or Ethernet cables as they become difficult to upgrade. However, 802.16-2005, an amendment to 802.16d describes mobile WiMAX. As handover is an important aspect of mobile wireless communications, the authors have analyzed various existing handoff schemes.
