Model-Driven Development for Sybase Replication Server
Model-Driven Development (MDD) uses a model to make the development of application and systems faster and easier. This paper delves on MDD for Sybase replication server, how it works, information liquidity model environment, replication server reverse engineering, and model reporting. With the rapid pace of consolidations, acquisitions and restructuring within IT departments, Sybase Replication server provides an effective way to monitor and manage replication on a day-by-day basis. It simplifies data movement and synchronization across the enterprise. It allows DBA's to quickly setup redundant disaster recovery sites and synchronize data across heterogeneous database platform. Its operation is divided into four areas such as Transaction detection from one or more source databases, transaction propagation and routing across the network, Transaction delivery to the target databases and Replication system management. PowerDesigner gives the user of this server an effective way to design the data flow across various systems using metadata-driven approach. The paper also emphasizes on the Information Liquidity Model (ILM) which is a graphical design environment focused on data movement. It also simplifies Replication Server development task and provides architecture discovery. Replication Wizard helps ILM to increase development productivity for new replication environment. The ILM can reverse engineer the RSSD or ERSSD directly into any model.
