Modeling and Analyzing the Star of Chains Topology for WSN

The recent increased interest in Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) has spurred research in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and Power Line Communications (PLC) technologies. For this purpose, several medium access protocols and architectures have been proposed. One of them is the Star of Chains topology (SOC), an architecture of regularly spaced nodes and a MAC protocol to work on it, which tries to improve network performance. In this paper, the SOC system is analyzed in order to clearly show undefined parameters of that kind of systems. The main goal is to get a physical implementation of that protocol. Therefore, the system is simulated to get some results and interesting characteristics of the SOC topology.
