ModelNet-TE: An Emulation Tool for the Study of P2P and Traffic Engineering Interaction Dynamics
Source: Telecom ParisTech
In the Internet, P2P application performance may be determined by the interaction of two independent dynamics: on the one hand, by the end-to-end control policies applied at the P2P application layer (L7); on the other hand, by Traffic Engineering (TE) decisions taken at the network level (L3). To study L7/L3 interaction in realistic settings, the authors present a framework for the emulation of TE capabilities. More specifically, they augment the ModelNet network emulator with multi-path capability: their ModelNet-TE implementation is general enough to deploy other TE algorithms in the ModelNet-TE core.
