Modified Clipping and Filtering Technique for Peak-to-Average Power Ratio Reduction of OFDM Signals Used in WLAN

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a popular modulation technique used in many new and emerging broadband technologies either wired like ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) or wireless as in DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), DVB-T (digital video broadcasting-terrestrial), WLAN (Wireless LAN), and so forth. The main advantage of OFDM is its robustness to multi-path fading, its great simplification of channel equalization and its low computational complexity implementation based on using Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) techniques. Despite many advantages, a major drawback of OFDM is its high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) problem, which makes system performance very sensitive to nonlinear distortions.
