The new TreeView, Menu, and SiteMapPath controls in Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 provide the Web site with easy-to-use navigation that requires hardly any work to implement. These controls work in conjunction with a site map provider to derive the tree, menu, or site layout of pages from a data source. As shipped, ASP.NET 2.0 provides only one such site map provider that reads data from the XML files of a particular schema. This webcast takes a closer look at creating the own custom site map provider that not only makes it possible for site map information to be read from a database, but also can still be utilized by exactly the same ASP.NET 2.0 navigation controls.
