Mstream: Multi-Sender Video-on-Demand Streaming on Peer to Peer Overlay Network
Source: Kangwon National University
Large scale Video-on-Demand (VoD) streaming on Peer-To-Peer (P2P) overlay network is still a challenging task due to its inherent dynamic and heterogeneity. In this paper, the authors present a VoD streaming system in P2P overlay network environment. Most of the previous works construct a structured overlay network, such as tree-based or DHT to tackle the above issues. However, they always suffer from inefficient resource utilization and poor reliability. To address these problems, the proposed system is based on an unstructured overlay, called Mstream, which adopts a gossip protocol using a limit range from a node to its neighbors to discover more near neighbors. The experimental results from the simulation show its feasibility.
