Multi-Table Index Based Incremental Update Scheme for Query Result Cache in a Data Warehouse
This paper pertains to propose an index-based incremental cache update technique which efficiently handles the resultset consistency along with ensuring an improved performance in cases where the data warehouse is updated after the resultset has been stored into the cache. The authors' technique takes advantage of incrementally retrieving the newly inserted data and merging it to the previously stored cache, thus ensuring an improved query performance along with the resultset consistency. They report their proposed methodology on performance evaluation based upon the simulated results. These experiments show that their technique achieves a substantial performance improvement and reduces the processing time for queries in a data warehouse environment when compared to retrieving the resultset through the non-cached evaluation.
