The popularity of wireless communication systems can be seen almost everywhere in the form of cellular networks, WLANs, and WPANs. Multihop Cellular Network (MCN) has been proposed to incorporate the flexibility of ad hoc networks into traditional cellular networks. MCN realizes multihop transmission through peer-to-peer communication among mobile stations. They are capable of achieving much higher throughput than Single hop Cellular Networks (SCNs). Consequently, MCN-type system is considered as a promising candidate of Fourth Generation (4G) wireless network for future mobile communications.
