Nivio Launches Revolutionary Virtual Desktop Service Based on AMD Opteron Processor-Based Servers and Microsoft Windows Server

Nivio is a Switzerland-based start-up with an Indian heart that has developed innovative technology that gives users global access to a personal virtual desktop from nearly any Internet-connected device. The company needed to create an exceptionally robust and complex infrastructure on a limited budget. Nivio created an infrastructure - called the NivioGrid - based on numerous servers powered by the AMD Opteron processor running Microsoft Windows Server 2003. The NivioGrid leverages Microsoft Windows Terminal Services to virtually deliver Windows-based applications to users, and Application Virtualization for Terminal Services to virtualize the applications.
