OECD Policy Guidance for Addressing Emerging Consumer Protection and Empowerment Issues in Mobile Commerce
Source: OECD
For the purposes of this paper, mobile commerce, also known as "Mobile ecommerce" or "M-commerce," means commercial transactions and communication activities conducted through wireless communication services and networks by means of Short Message Services ("SMS"), Multimedia Messaging Service ("MMS"), or the Internet, using small, handheld mobile devices that typically have been used for telephonic communications. Mobile commerce is currently growing at a rapid pace in many OECD countries. In these countries, more and more individuals have advanced mobile phones and other such devices that allow them to benefit from a broad range of mobile services that are different from what is currently possible from fixed computers.
