On Particle Filters for Landmine Detection Using Impulse Ground Penetrating Radar

In this paper, the authors present an online stochastic approach for landmine detection based on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) signals using Sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) methods. Since, the existence of true landmines is unknown and random, they propose to use the Reversible Jump Markov Chain Monte Carlo (RJMCMC) in association with the SMC methods to jointly detect and localize landmines in the light of observations. Computer simulations on real GPR measurements demonstrate the robust and consistent performance of the proposed method.
