On the Suitability of XML and Its Quality Framework of Languages Based on Models for Representing Interactive Systems
Source: Concordia University
There has been a recent surge in initiatives towards modeling and engineering interactive systems based on Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) using XML. As this trend moves forward, issues of the suitability of XML, patterns and models underlying this representation as effective means of communication arise. In this paper, the authors present a quality framework of languages based on models for XML representations based upon interplay of notions from semiotics, human-computer interaction, and cognition, is proposed to represent the interactive systems. The goals for pragmatic quality, and manageable criteria and mechanisms to address them in a feasible manner are identified.
