Open Product Lifecycle Data Sharing Using XML

Efforts to achieve interoperability among software applications used in the conception, development, engineering, manufacturing and maintenance of products, cost the global manufacturing industry billions of dollars annually. In order to achieve significant cost savings and an important time to market advantage, the global market is now demanding unprecedented levels of interoperability among PLM software applications to help accelerate the execution of product development process threads. Initiatives to improve interoperability in heterogeneous application environments are therefore of vital importance. PLM XML is a format created by Siemens PLM Software for facilitating product lifecycle interoperability using XML. It is open, published and is compliant with the WorldWideWeb Consortium (W3C) XML schema recommendation.
