Outsourcing and Managed Services: Helping the It Function to Help the Business?

The use of outsourcing and managed services is growing in Ireland. A large majority of organisations are using such services and many are planning to use more. The drivers of the market are tangible benefits like cost savings, access to skills, and expertise. IDC's recent research in Ireland shows that, though use of outsourced or managed services is high, in the vast majority of cases the needs of business are not being considered when making the decision. IDC believes this means that Irish organisations are missing an opportunity to address business issues and make the IT function work more harmoniously with the overall business.
