Parallel Algorithms for Polynomial Interpolation on OTIS-Hypercube Parallel Computer
Source: Xavier Institute of Social Service
The Optical Transpose Interconnection System (OTIS) architecture has been suggested by Marsden et al, Hendrick, and Zane et al. This architecture has become very popular and is the essence of many available parallel computers. In this architecture, the processors are arranged in groups and each group is allocated equal number of processors. The bandwidth limitations of electronic links, connecting the processors in a multiprocessor system, motivated the researchers to explore the alternatives to overcome these limitations. One of the best alternatives available is optics that supports inherent communication parallelism, high connectivity and large bandwidth. When communication distance exceeds few millimeters, optical interconnect is preferred to electronic link due to better bandwidth and power properties.
