Grant County Public Library in Williamstown, Kentucky oversees a library that primarily serves a rural population and is situated between Cincinnati and Lexington where many county residents commute to work. While many people in Grant County are accustomed to driving longer distances for shopping and other services, the library staff felt that a service enhancement was needed to better serve county residents, especially those living on the county's perimeter and furthest from the centrally-located library building. Library discovered a cost-saving electronic locker system that was installed at another Kentucky library system.. those lockers and their technology's ability to provide remote, unattended access sparked her interest.
