The delivery of digital programming to home users via the Internet is at a turning point as key media industry players are presently remapping their strategies by creating new platforms and adopting new content-delivery business models for the massive deployment of on-demand digital content and for generating new revenue streams. With the increasing use of high-performance desktop computing combined with the wide availability of broadband access, Peer-To-Peer (P2P) is being embraced by key industry players and has become a viable alternative to distributing bandwidth-intensive content, such as high-quality video streaming in a secure and cost-effective manner.
