Since 2004, the PCI DSS standard has guided retailers about securing credit card transactions and protecting stored cardholder data. However, the guidance about protection from wireless threats has been unclear and non-specific. That has changed with PCI DSS 1.2, and the need to pay attention to wireless is no longer a suggestion but a mandate. Learn how one can meet the PCI requirements for wireless networks and go beyond it and truly secure ones network and cardholder data from wireless threats. It also says to use network intrusion detection systems and/or intrusion prevention systems to monitor all traffic in the cardholder data environment and alert personnel to suspected compromises.
