Performance Analysis of GPRS/EDGE

Mobile telephony has been the most popular application supported by mobile systems. The evolution of mobile network is due to accessing the information anytime, anywhere leads to change in generation of mobile from first generation mobile, 1G towards the fourth generation, 4G. The change from 1G to 4G is to provide higher data rates, voice, and video and image transmission. GSM is 2G technology. GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is 2.5G technology. EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) is 2.75G.in this paper the comparative study, performance and capacity of both the systems are described.
