Performance Study on Mobile IPv4 Vs IPv6

Mobile Computing is increasingly becoming a wild craze in the World today due to the amount of helpful gadgets (PDAs, laptops, IPODs, and the like) that are flooding the information technology market. The need for mobile computers to consistently be connected to the internet, regardless of location and without changing IP addresses, has steadily been on the rise and therefore there is the need for an upgrade from Mobile IPv4. The differences that exist between Mobile IPv4 (MIPv4) and Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) is the focus of this paper. This paper seeks to examine and illustrate those different characteristics.
