Pilot-Symbol-Aided Channel Estimation With Boosted Pilots for MC-CDMA Systems
In this paper the performance improvement to the MC-CDMA pilot-symbol-aided channel estimator by using boosted pilot symbols is addressed. Simulation results in rayleigh fading multiuser environments show that selecting the appropriate level of boosting has an almost the same importance as selecting the number of pilots. MultiCarrier Code Division Multiple-Access (MCCDMA) is highly regarded as a possible candidate for implementation as the Fourth Generation (4G) PHYsical Layer (PHY). Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (COFDM) and MC-CDMA are able to operate successfully in a wideband channel through the exploitation of its frequency selective nature.
