Optimal siting and sizing of Distributed Generation (DG) and other power compensating devices in distribution networks are the two crucial and also very important factors to get maximum benefits such as technical, economical, and environmental both for the utility and customers, especially, in sites where the central generation is impracticable or where there are deficiencies in the transmission system. This paper discusses an overview on different DG technology, available capacity and their merits and demerits.
