To link multiple varying Grids together, there is a need for an Information System which will act as a translator for accessing information from other Grid's Information Services. This study discusses principles and experiences in building a novel architecture of a Hybrid Service, which provides unification, federation and interoperability of different XML metadata services, and presents a performance evaluation of the prototype implementation. The results indicate that the Hybrid Service achieves information integration with negligible processing overheads while preserving persistency of information.
