Priority-Based Queue Scheduling Using Fuzzy Logic

The Internet is used for many different applications with diverse QoS requirements ranging from the best-effort (no guaranteed QoS) to deterministic guaranteed QoS. Quality of Service (QoS) in the Internet depends on queuing and sophisticated scheduling in routers. In this paper, the authors propose a new algorithm for queue management and scheduling of classified packets in a router of integrated service capabilities. The algorithm tries to optimize QoS parameters and to share sources between different requests fairly. The experimental results and the comparisons with other classic methods, illustrate the performance and the fairness of the algorithm.
