To make search easy and more accessible, ExactOne wanted to extend the use of their Query Engine Platform and make it available to other Windows applications. To meet this search-related business objective, ExactOne wanted to deploy an ODBC interface that would allow users of the enterprise to conduct searches from unique Windows applications. This functionality was expected to accommodate the needs of their enterprise customers. Such a deployment would mean that an ODBC driver was integrated into the Query Engine Platform to offer connectivity to the Windows environment. At the same time, the company wanted this solution to be able to meet the strict technical and business requirements that change time and again. Simba was approached by ExactOne to build an ODBC driver for its Query Engine Platform. This was done by customizing SimbaEngine SDK in such a manner that the company mapped the Data Records Manager (DRM) layer of the SDK engine. This mapping was done onto that portion of the platform where search queries are dynamically generated. What was delivered as a result of this rigorous process was an ODBC driver that was tested and optimized by Simba. With such thorough testing of the solution, Simba was able to ensure that the solution thoroughly meets all necessary performance specifications and is able to offer full support for Windows.
